Have you ever wished that you could travel back in time? This weekend, your wish could be granted at The Farm at Prophetstown! This 1920’s Recreation on the Farm goes from 10AM to 4PM. When farm families completed their daily chores, leisure time in the evening might include participation in group games of chance and skill. Board and card games were popular along with adaptations of outdoor games like croquet and bowling. Visit the Gibson Farmhouse and try your luck at 1920s indoor leisure diversions.

Step into a whole other time that evening with the One Size Fits All Improv comedy show. If you’re a fan of the classic Star Wars series, you won’t want to miss this unique show. A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away…no one ever expected this! One Size Fits All is taking the universe of space battles and messed up families, and mixing it with what this team does best — IMPROV. Come experience a show like you’ve never seen before. They’ll recreate the original Star Wars movie, but without a script, and throw in your suggestions, your ideas and even your dialogue. May the Force be with you at this awesome and hilarious show that is out of this galaxy. Two shows on Saturday, June 2 — a family friendly show at 6:30PM (bring the kids). It’s one of my favorite childhood favorite stories and is a classic, “Charlotte’s Web”!  The Civic Youth Theatre Present: “Charlotte’s Web” this weekend, Friday, November 15 through Sunday, November 17. The Children’s Literature Association named this “the best American children’s book of the past two hundred years.”  Adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette, all the enchanting characters are here:  Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher, Fern, Templeton, the Zuckerman family, the Arables, and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer.” Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the “miracle” of her web in which she writes, “Some pig.” It’s the beginning of a victorious campaign, which ultimately ends with the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte.

Live on stage, this Saturday, November 16, is the artist, Jonathan Richman, presented by Friends of Bob!  His music embodies timeless qualities of humanity, optimism, emotional insight and a boundless sense of humor. Over the years, Jonathan’s music has absorbed a multitude of influences, from doo-wop to country to a variety of international styles, without sacrificing this effervescent personality.  Check out his performance at Lafayette Brewing Company for a night of great music, humor and delicious food!

This weekend marks the end of the fall festivities at Exploration Acres.  This year has been an exciting year at the 18 acre corn maze with the introduction of a few new attractions; the Gem Mine, Pony Rides, and Pumpkin Decorating/ Race.   A Visit Lafayette-West Lafayette staff member shared she took her granddaughter to visit this year, and she was so excited to ride on the little ponies.  Better yet, this little girl is very artsy and used her skills to create a pumpkin decorated with stickers and colorful markers.  The family all joined in the fun and ventured into the 18 acre corn maze.  They got lost only a dozen times but came out laughing and excited about the rewards from local businesses they received by finding the different stations along the way.  Do not miss out this family fun activity this weekend.  (It won’t be back until next August!)

If you are in the mood for a fright this Friday and Saturday, look no further than “The Woman in Black: A Ghost Story” presented by the Lafayette Civic Theatre.  This frightening play will have you at the edge of your seat in suspense.  A lawyer hires an actor to tutor him in recounting to family and friends a story that has long troubled him concerning events that transpired when he attended the funeral of an elderly recluse. There he caught sight of the woman in black, the mere mention of whom terrifies the locals, for she is a specter who haunts the neighborhood where her illegitimate child was accidentally killed. Anyone who sees her dies!  Does this sound terrifying or what!?
