Starry Night began fifteen years ago with a hundred people and has since grown to welcome 10,000+ students and community members each year! Don’t miss heading to the Starry Night Music & Arts Festival taking place this Saturday, September 29 at South Street and Northwestern Avenue in West Lafayette from 7pm to midnight. Starry Night is an annual street festival that features a unique blend of excellent music, a variety of merchants, interactive creativity, and delicious food. The festival is designed to bring the Purdue and Greater Lafayette communities together and seeks to promote awareness of Swipe Out Starvation, a campus organization concerned with the issue of hunger on a local and global scale. Featured musicians include Michigander, Mike Mains & The Branches, Ledges, Corey Kilgannon, The Bergamot, Joe Baughman, and Stay Outside. Starry Night is hosted by Purdue Christian Campus House (pcch.org) and Greyhouse Coffee & Supply Co. (greyhousecoffee.com) and is free to the public.

Join in the first ever Ouibache Music Festival this Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29 at the beautiful Tippecanoe County Amphitheater in West Lafayette, Indiana. Musicians from all over the world will gather to play tunes, share stories, and commune with one another. Stage shows will feature local, regional, national and international acts. Music, demonstrations, dancing and all sorts of fun will be going on throughout the festival. Jam sessions and workshops will be set up on the grounds so make sure to bring your instruments! The opportunity is yours for the taking. Come and embrace your musical roots in a beautiful outdoor setting. There is something for everyone. It’s about the music. It’s about passing on the traditions. It’s passion with a purpose.

Head to West Lafayette this Saturday, September 30 for the Starry Night annual street festival.  This special event draws thousands of people with its unique blend of excellent music, a variety of merchants, interactive creativity, and food. The festival is designed to bring people together around the thread of story and seeks to expose the public to the cause of literacy through the local initiative Read to Succeed. Starry Night is hosted by Campus House and Greyhouse Coffee and, thanks to their generous sponsors, is FREE. Please come be a part of this amazing night!IMG_7822

A festival that is “tradition” and “celebration” to those from the area and beyond is the Feast of the Hunters’ Moon, taking place on the banks of the Wabash River on September 30 and October 1.  The Feast is a re-creation of the annual fall gathering of the French and Native American which took place at Fort Ouiatenon, a fur-trading outpost in the mid 1700s. It is held annually in early autumn four miles southwest of West Lafayette. Thousands of participants re-enact this event creating a feast for your senses. Smell the wood smoke, hear the report of the rifles, savor authentic food and more. Come and celebrate it’s 50th anniversary!

Enjoy the arts and great music?  The Starry Night Festival is the place to be this Saturday, September 21, to listen to live music, create hands on art projects, discuss social issues, and have a really good time. This annual event is a venue for artistic and creative expression and participation that includes music, art and marketplace.  The musical line-up this year includes Carielle, Marc Imboden & Friends, and Tate Kirgiss.  This special event takes place from 7:00 p.m. to Midnight and this year’s cause is in support of “Read to Succeed” to raise awareness about how we can positively impact the community around the Purdue campus.

Dharma Greets the CrowdOn Saturday, September 21, Wolf Park is hosting their Fifth Annual Walk for Wolves event.  Spend the day celebrating wolves, and Wolf Park’s commitment to saving our natural world.  All morning walkers will stroll around this beautiful, unique park seeing the wolves, foxes, coyotes and bison up close and personal!  Join honorary Chairman, Jeff Smith, from WLFI TV 18, emcee, Brittany Rayburn, local Purdue basketball star, and famous entertainer, Scott Greeson & Friends as they participate in this special event.  Silly Safaris will have a show featuring some live animals and The Outpost Catering will be here serving up lunch including drink and desert for only $5!  Plus, all participating walkers will receive FREE ADMISSION to Wolf Park for the remainder of the day.

Start your weekend off right, by attending the annual “Starry Night Music Festival” at Purdue University, Friday, September 21 at 6:30pm!  This street festival is heavy on music, art, social issues, conversations and a really good time. This year the line-up includes nationally touring bands, Farewell Flight and Deas Vail, along with some great regional acts.  While you listen to the energetic music, you can browse a wide variety of art and goods, available for purchase, including caricatures, funky clothes & jewelry, sculptures made from appliances, coffee, music, and more.  The best part is the awesome festival if free!

This Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23, is a time to enjoy history, culture and wood smoked, authentic food at the annual “Feast of the Hunters’ Moon“!  The Feast brings thousands of participants to the banks of the Wabash River to re-create the annual fall gathering of the French and Native Americans which took place at Fort Ouiatenon, a fur-trading outpost in the mid 1700s. The weekend is truly a feast for your senses.  As soon as you arrive you smell the wood smoke and hear the sizzle of food being roasted.  Your senses will burst as the blasts of the rifles periodically go off.  The Feast of the Hunters’ Moon is celebrating 45 years of re-enactments, so do not miss all the fun!
