LeOriginals – Glass Jewelry & Gifts

Flower necklace created by Linda. It's on a leather and a silver lobster claw for the closure. $75.00.

2 Great Cities, 1 Great Shopping Destination!  Lafayette-West Lafayette is home to many interesting and unique retail shops, including LeOriginals.  LeOriginals specializes in custom glass jewelry that is not only wearable, but lovely!

I have a mother-in-law and a sister who I like to describe as avid jewelry fashionistas.   Every outfit they own has a pair of fun earrings, a necklace and a bracelet to compliment it.  LeOriginals is a jewelry shop that has so many beautiful jewelry options that can accessorize an outfit to perfection.  My favorite jewelry pieces are ones created with beads that are so bright and colorful and when the sun touches them they sparkle.

Lampwork Artist and LeOriginals owner, Linda Elmore, uses her sense of design and masterful artistry to create jewelry and gifts out of different forms of glass such as empty wine bottles.  Not only is she creating pieces of art to be worn, but she is going “green” by using recyclable products.  I love unique gifts, and with family birthdays and the holidays really not too far away, I am excited to shop at LeOriginals this fall.  Linda also can add images/photos to beads and I am contemplating taking a photo of my nephews and getting a bracelet made for my sister.  I know she would be so excited and it would be not only something she could wear, but have as a keepsake forever.

Walnut Street Traditions- Mother’s Day!

A wall of every aroma candle you can imagine!

Happening Now!  Right now the locals are talking about Walnut Street Traditions, the shop that will offer the perfect gift to make your mother smile on Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate everything our mom’s do for us all year long.  I, personally, have a wonderful mom and mother-in-law.  They do so many special things for my husband and I all year long, including listening to us when we have a bad day, encouraging us to be better people, and cheering with us when we have reached one of our many goals in life.  Sometimes we get so caught up in life, we forget to say thank you.  But the best part is, Mother’s Day is a celebration of everything they do.  The ideal place to purchase a fun, special gift to show our appreciation is Walnut Street Traditions.

Walnut Street Traditions offers a wide selection of household decorative items including candles, custom crafted furniture, seasonal decorations, rugs, framed art and yard decor.  The moment you walk into this specialty store, your sense of smell and sight come alive.  Visitors breathe in the array of scents from the signature brand for the store, Hoosier Candle Company, while the array of specialty gifts meets the eye.  If there is a particular smell you are interested in, my bet is they have it!  The hardest part is choosing which candles to purchase.  (My last visit, I believe I spent at least 20 minutes deciding which to buy.)  They also have unique jewelry, which makes it just the place to shop since I do not know many women who don’t love a little bling!

Whether you are looking for delicious dining, interesting attractions and shops, enticing events or home away from home lodging—a getaway to Lafayette-West Lafayette, Indiana, is sure to satisfy.  For more information about this shop and more, visit our website at www.HomeOfPurdue.com.

Artist’s Own

Scott Frankenberger Pottery

2 Great Cities, 1 Great University “Midwest Hospitality”.  Living in Lafayette-West Lafayette, Indiana, one thing we value is customer service and appreciating the times we receive great customer care.  Midwest Hospitality is Lafayette-West Lafayette, Indiana.  We are proud of our local businesses that provide gracious and friendly service.  To experience “Midwest Hospitality” at its finest visit Artist’s Own, an art gallery with work from 22 local artists that pleases both the art novice and the art connoisseur.

I love just walking into Artist’s Own.  I am surrounded by beautiful pieces of art that include paintings, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, pottery, fiber, glass, drawings and more!   All of my senses come alive and I am mesmerized by the beauty of what is art.  It always takes a few minutes (if not more) to take it all in.  Usually the customer service staff has already said hello and inquired if I need any assistance before I am even aware they are there.

I think my favorite pieces of art to explore is pottery.  At Artist’s Own, there are pottery pieces of all size, color, angle and style.  I love pottery because not one piece is ever the same.  An artist can take a piece of clay and form it into an object that can become anything he or she desires.  One pottery piece I purchased for my mother-in-law was a rich red pitcher that has funky twist and turns.  (See photo above).  It is such a unique piece of pottery that has became a conversation piece during dinner parties at my in-laws.

Artist’s Own is a gallery to explore and/or purchase art by local artists.  If you are interested in a day out with friends and family to explore, make sure you stop at the Artist’s Own.  Visitors can peruse and study the different styles of artwork.  There is always friendly customer service staff available to answer any questions and to provide insight on the local artists and their style of work.  And you may even meet the local artist of the piece you are interested in, because this gallery is ran by the 22 local artists who create every amazing piece of artwork within!
