Visit Sully’s – Vintage, Retro and Hip!

It's so bright and colorful at Sully's!

It’s so bright and colorful at Sully’s!

2 Great Cities, 1 Great University, “Hoosier Hospitality”.  To experience “Hoosier Hospitality” at its finest visit one of Lafayette’s newest storefronts, Sully’s! This new boutique (opened in 2012) showcases a diverse range of vintage and retro clothing, jewelry and accessories.

Sully’s has been open since 2012, but only recently did I make my first trip to this store. Shame on me because literally as soon as I entered the storefront the bright colors and beautiful clothing and jewelry lifted my spirits. I was instantly greeted by one of the owners who was so excited about her shop and the one of a kind finds within. From vintage dresses, men’s dress shoes from another era in time, timeless jewelry, and hats we saw movie stars like Doris Day wear 50 years ago can be found. (My favorite movie star of all time was Doris Day and her fashion should be acclaimed for it’s timeless beauty!)

IMG_3118To those who may feel uncomfortable wearing clothes someone else wore years ago, please know that all of the clothing has been cleaned and ironed/steamed. The owner was actually steaming some of the clothing as we spoke! Plus, isn’t it kind of neat to imagine what was going on 30 to 50 years ago when another person was wearing it? From civil rights movements to wars, that person experienced a different yet not so different life than we live now.  Nostalgia oh isn’t it wonderful!

The owner shared that she and her daughter own and manage the shop together. Family is very important to this business and I think it is great! They are very passionate about creating a unique store for our area.  Plus as I left, I was offered ginger snaps (and I am a sucker for sweets!).
