Inspired Fire is a glass studio and gallery located right here in Lafayette! When you enter Inspired Fire, it’s hard not to be “blown” away by the gallery of handmade glass items. Flowers, vases, jewelry, and so much more! The art here is made in shop and by over 30 different local artists. So many of these beautiful pieces of art would make great gifts for a loved one, or a special treat for yourself!
My fellow intern, Emily, and I had the opportunity to visit earlier last year and were absolutely spoiled by owner Sharon Owens and the rest of the staff. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by the smiling faces of people who absolutely love what they do. I learned more about glass blowing that day than I ever expected when Emily and I were led to the studio and given demonstrations. First, we were able to see a typical beginners’ piece (a little glass fish!) made. It is amazing to see how within just a few minutes something so unique and exciting can be made! A little fish like this would make an adorable gift and booking a class to create something like this would definitely be a worthwhile experience that you and your friends or family would remember forever!
Sharon Owens even took the time to give us a personal tour of the building. Besides the gallery, there is a group studio that seats up to 8 with the ability to add 4 additional torches, as well as the new addition, the Hot Shop, which is over 1,000 square feet and has a 200 pound glass furnace. She showed us how glass is melted and shaped into their beautiful glass flowers in the furnace. Sharon also gave us a demonstration of how Inspired Fire’s famous glass Christmas ornaments are made. Overall, we had so much fun visiting the shop. If you’re looking for somewhere truly unique to visit in Lafayette, this is the place! Visit their website for more information about their gallery pieces, as well as their class times. Be sure to book your spot in advance because you don’t want to miss the chance to learn more about your new hobby, glass blowing!
Below you can watch a clip from our trip to Inspired Fire. Emily got to blow her own Christmas ornament, with the help of Sharon, of course!

Local shops offer holiday cheer and the perfect gift or compliment to a holiday party! Yesterday I spent the day out with some friends shopping for the perfect gifts while also picking up some much needed items for our holiday party my husband and I are hosting this weekend. I got all our Christmas shopping done at local shops and I feel so thankful I got everyone crossed off my family’s list. I would like to share my great buys, and maybe it will inspire you to head out and finish your shopping at our great local businesses.
These are the awesome purchases:
- Scott Frankenberger decorative porcelain pitcher from Interior Objects for my mother who collects his pieces
- A clay baking dish from the Artists’ Own Gallery for my Aunt Sally, the baker of the family
- Purdue t-shirt for my brother, a Purdue Grad, at University Spirit
- Candy Canes for everyone’s stockings from McCord Candies
A lovely scarf for my mother in law at Gretel’s
- Hodson’s Bay Company has so many bicycle gift ideas, but I picked a light rack for my Dad to add to his bike for his bicycle excursions
- A case of Root Beer from Triple XXX for my Great Uncle Harry
- A guitar case for my brother in-law at Klaverenga Guitar and Piano Studio, Inc.
- A photo bead charm bracelet being created at L.E. Originals
- A glass holiday ornament for our Christmas tree at Inspired Fire Glass Studio and Gallery
- Two Tulips had the cutest child’s Purdue cheerleader outfit and I purchased it for one of my girlfriends who just found she was having a girl
- Even a holiday pillow for me that reads “Jingle” for me at Design Nook Interiors
Then I got everything for my dinner party while I was out too!
- A crown roast at Beutler Barbeque Meats & Catering
- A roasting pan and little holiday chef hats to add to my crown roast at KitchenArt

Interior Objects is a wonderful shop located in the Market Square Shopping Center. Pottery, jewelry, knick·knacks, art, gifts for everyone & so much more!
Step into Interior Objects, and you will immediately be tempted to buy everything in sight! There is a wide variety of objects just waiting to take their place in your, or a loved one’s, home. It is a specialty boutique specializing in beautiful homewares, lifestyle items and one of kind decorations. This is also another one of our community’s local businesses that offers good old Hoosier hospitality! You can be sure that as soon as you enter, someone will greet you with a smile and direct you towards whatever interests you.
Visitors and local residents alike can find great pieces to add to their homeware collection! There are dishes, serving platters, utensils, aprons, tools, decorations, and so much more to pick from. There is also an exclusive collection of Scott Frankenberger pottery. He is a local artist who creates beautiful items such as mugs, vases and plates.
Every time I visit I want to purchase about everything at Interior Objects! My personal favorite items are pillows, place-mats and glasses with beautiful designs – Indiana-themed, and Purdue-themed in particular! It is definitely a challenge to escape without finding something you love and purchasing it.

If you’re looking for a new and unique addition to your closet, Dawson and Daisy Boutique is just what you need. The boutique is an aesthetically pleasing dream and unlike any other shop in West Lafayette. From the perfect decor, to the open layout, to the wonderful smells, this shop is sure to please your senses and your closet.
Dawson and Daisy carries a variety of unique clothing, jewelry, beauty products, and home wares. The location is extremely close to campus, so it’s a great spot for that last minute formal dress or birthday gift you may need. The store also offers small succulent plants that are perfect for your dorm or apartment. You are sure to find something unlike anything else inside this boutique.
Dawson and Daisy is owned by Purdue student Gabby Gary. The boutique began online and quickly grew into something bigger. In May of 2017 Gabby moved her boutique to Wabash Landing right next door to All Fired Up in West Lafayette. This prominent location is perfect for any girls day. Grab a bite to eat at Scotty’s Brewhouse, get creative at All Fired Up, stop in at Dawson and Daisy to treat yourself (or maybe someone else), hit the movie theater, and then Bruno’s for dinner. Dawson and Daisy is a great addition to the perfect mom and daughter day.
This is the place to be if you want something unique, but close to home. Dawson and Daisy offers a variety of styles of clothing from dresses, sweaters, swim-wear, and much more.

Just when you thought being a Boilermaker couldn’t get any better, it does! We now have a place to get FRESH donuts on campus for a reasonable price! Hammer Donuts is a small, but mighty donut shop inside the famous Discount Den in Chauncey Hill.
As soon as you walk into The Den you will see a beautifully painted mural painted by Lafayette’s own Elaine Nygren. The mural displays colorful donuts and sprinkles with a Purdue hammer hitting the wall. It’s the perfect back drop for a donut shop. It gives Hammer Donuts an artsy and colorful feel.
Hammer Donuts has teamed up with local businesses such as the Neon Cactus. On Thursday nights you can bring in your cactus cup and fill it up with donut holes for only $4.99. The Hammer Donuts Instagram is sure to make you hungry for a fresh hammer donut.
Hammer donuts can also fulfill your catering needs. The bright pink donut boxes are a great addition to your early morning meeting or staff breakfast. Hammer donuts does it all.
Purdue’s campus has had fro-yo options, Chinese food, AJ’s Burgers, Brothers Bar, and everything in-between that a hungry college student needs, except donuts! Now our campus is officially complete and just in time with State street opening and students returning for the semester.
These donuts aren’t just your average donuts. Owner, Tate Schienbein, a 2017 Purdue Grad, makes the donuts from scratch using his own family recipe. The donuts are freshly made right there inside the Den every morning! The donuts look and more importantly, taste amazing. In addition to the amazing donuts, Hammer Donuts serves coffee from Lafayette’s own Copper Moon. This business is already on its way to being a Purdue tradition.
The menu includes classic donuts, specialty donuts, and donut holes! My personal favorite is the specialty Lucky Charm covered donut. Hammer Donuts is the perfect compliment for the legendary Discount Den. How exciting is it that we can now “Boiler up” on a den pop and “hammer down” on a hammer donut! As Tate says, “Boiler Raised, Hammer Made!”. Head to 135 S Chauncey Ave Suite 1J in West Lafayette to give these delicious donuts a try for yourself.
