Weekend Update: Wabash Center Gala & Boiler Con

On Friday, April 6th is the Wabash Center’s 65th Anniversary Gala. Celebrate decades of serving the community! From 6-10pm, you can join in the Gala that highlights 65 years of service to children and adults with disabilities in Greater Lafayette. The evening will consist of a cocktail hour, dinner, silent auction, awards presentation, live music and much more! For more information, please visit their website.

 


Each year on Purdue’s campus is Boiler Con! Boiler Con 2018 is our own comic con – come and meet amazing comic book artists and writers, take part in card and board game tournaments, see the unique vendors, sign up for the cosplay contest, and enjoy panels of special guests on April 7! Stop into the Purdue Memorial Union on April 7th from 3-8pm to experience all there is to offer! (And, it is FREE to the public!) Special guests include: Bernard Chang, former Imagineer and Comic Book Creator Mackey McCandlish: Creator of Call of Duty games. If you plan on attending, please be aware of the following rules:

  •  No profanity allowed. That includes messages on signs or clothes.
  • Costumes cannot promote alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, or firearms/weapons.
  • NO WEAPONS. All firearms/weapons, real or props, are prohibited from the event.
  • Costumes cannot be obscene or offensive, or endorse any form of hate.
  • NO NUDITY. All costumes should provide enough coverage to be worn in public and should be in good taste and appropriate for a family-friendly environment.
  • If costumes are deemed too revealing, you will be asked to cover up.
  • Gore and graphic violence must be minimal.

Weekend Update: Wines on the Wabash & Gospel Meets Symphony

Weekend Update! Looking for a fun Indiana weekend getaway? Or do you live in this area and are looking for entertainment close by? Check out the endless possibilities for fun events happening this upcoming weekend in or near Lafayette-West Lafayette, Indiana.

Join us for the 14th annual Wines on the Wabash wine and beer tasting event benefiting Wabash Center on Friday, April 8 at the Purdue Memorial Union. Wines on the Wabash will showcase over a 100 different wines from international, national, and Indiana vintages as well as many micro brew and import beers. In addition to the plethora of wine and beer, the event will feature a chance to win a diamond valued at $1,000 courtesy of Stall and Kessler, 50/50 drawings, plenty of hors d’oeruves, an electronic silent auction to keep things interesting, and to commemorate the evening don’t forget to take home your 2016 Wines on the Wabash souvenir wine glass.  Tickets are $50 per person (you must be 21 years of age or older to attend).

Back by popular demand, the Black Voices of Inspiration and Purdue’s Black Cultural Center partner with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra for an unforgettable and powerful evening of song. Gospel Meets Symphony celebrate the incredible talent that brings Lafayette together and puts the ‘unity’ back in community. This unified event takes place at the Long Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, April 9.
