Local. Fresh. Café Literato.

Local. Fresh. Café Literato. Our staff was able to check out Café Literato, located on Northwestern Avenue attached to the Faith Community Center. We spent a lovely afternoon sampling just a few of the items from their menu.
Cafe Literato Sam Cafe Literato RacCafé Literato has delicious options – sandwiches, pizzas, salads, and more! I was even able to try a great gluten-free pizza. You definitely need to stop in and grab a bite, and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.

They serve a delightful Greek salad, absolutely loaded with toppings! Tomatoes, onion, feta cheese… Try it as an entree or get it as a side to another menu item. You can also order from a very wide variety of hot and cold beverages! There are smoothies, lattes, espressos and other drinks!Cafe Literato Salad

I think all of our staff would agree that this is a great, light-hearted place to visit. Good for people of all ages, students, visitors, and families alike, Café Literato is always a tempting option.

Purdue Tradition – Pizza from Bruno’s

IMG_5810Welcome back Purdue University students for the 2017/18 school year! It’s time for more traditions to be embraced and for great local cuisine to be consumed. One Purdue tradition that is on every Boilermaker’s list is a visit to Bruno’s, that has been serving hungry Boilers for over 60 years. A dining experience at Bruno’s is fun and delicious, so don’t miss out!

Bruno Dough

Bruno Dough

Hand-tossed pizza, famous Bruno dough, fresh garden salads, and house specialties (veal, bratwurst and manicotti, just to name a few), there is something for everyone at Bruno’s. The acclaimed appetizer is Bruno Dough, their famous pizza dough, deep fried, brushed with garlic butter, sprinkled with parmesan cheese, and served with a dipping sauce (cheese, meat, marinara or garlic butter). If you have never had this yummy, carbolicious treat, you must! The bread is light and fluffy on the inside and once dipped in a sauce (I recommend the cheese sauce that is a bit spicy), the flavor bursts in one’s mouth.

IMG_7061The pizza! Bruno’s pizza is different than any style of pizza I have ever had. It is a medium thickness crust that would be considered more New York Style. Bruno, Orlando (brothers who own the business along with their sister Tina) and their team of master pizza creators, toss the crust into the air, then pat it out onto pizza wood boards. They add a homemade, rich, red pizza sauce, a hearty brick style cheese and all the toppings. (My daughter loves to watch them make the pizzas from their huge glass window as you enter the restaurant.) The pizzas get placed in their massive, hot ovens, and bake together to pizza deliciousness.

Bruno’s has 3 rooms, the Big O’s Sports Room as well as a bar and room with the Swiss design. Big O’s Sports Room is filled with trophy’s, photos, sports memorabilia, etc. from sports teams, primarily Purdue. Almost every Purdue athletic star has made a stop at Bruno’s and photos line the wall of their visits. The Swiss rooms make one feel like they just stopped at a Swiss Chalet. From the beam and wood work to the beer stein glasses that line the walls, the feel is authentic and comfortable.

Thank Goodness for Great Pizza!

IMG_1326Do you ever have a meal where after you think, “Thank goodness for great food!”? Every time we make a visit to Bruno’s Pizza and Big O’s Sports Room in West Lafayette, Indiana, we have this feeling of jubilation! Since 1955, Bruno’s has been serving hand-tossed pizza, famous Bruno dough, fresh garden salads, and house specialties (veal, bratwurst and manicotti just to name a few).

You may ask, what makes Bruno’s pizza so special? In my opinion its four things: the crust, the sauce, the cheese and the love that is thrown into it. There is no other pizza around that taste like it and I have traveled throughout the United States and abroad, including Italy.  The love comes from a family that has worked together for over 60 years. Bruno Itin Sr. immigrated to Indiana from his home in Switzerland. Bruno Sr. passed away in 2006, but his two sons and daughter run the restaurant along with 6 granddaughters who all work at the restaurant. It is truly a family business!

Great Service, Delicious Pizza and More: Puccini’s

Spinach Artichoke Dip

Spinach Artichoke Dip

Looking for a place to take your parents and other family or friends out to eat when they decide to come for a visit? I have a suggestion! Recently, my parents and brother decided that they wanted to come to see me. I was really excited, especially when my mom said I could decide where we went out for lunch. I knew the PERFECT place! Puccini’s is a delicious, unique pizzeria. I’ve never had pizza that tastes anything like theirs before. They also have great Italian options if pizza isn’t really your thing.  I know for a fact that my sisters could eat their fettuccini everyday if it was an option. I knew this would be the perfect place to go and catch up with my family. Puccini’s is a wonderful place to take family because of the low-key atmosphere. It is easy to have a conversation and you don’t have to get dressed up. The large dining room is great for larger parties too and they have a private dining room that can accommodate up to 50 people.

IMG_6614When we went, the service was awesome. Everyone is super laid back and really friendly! I love when servers make an effort and go out of their way to make sure that all of your needs are met. There are a few times that I have gone during the dinner rush hour, and the staff is still upbeat and doing their best to accommodate your needs. They make your experience personal, which is something I really appreciate when dining out. I feel that waiters can either make or break your dining experience. I love knowing that when I go to Puccini’s, I will always be greeted with a smile.

I love Puccini’s menu because they have so many options. This being said, every time I go to Puccini’s I get breadsticks, pizza, and a salad. It’s so good that I just can’t mix it up and get something new! My family members have tried new items off the menu though. Like I said earlier, my sisters are big fans of the fettuccini. And I have been personally told that their spinach and artichoke dip is out of this world.

IMG_6615One of my favorite things about Puccini’s is their lunch special.  They have a great deal where you can get a slice of their pizza of the day, a garden salad, and a large drink. The type of pizza changes daily, which is really nice so that way you aren’t getting stuck with the same pizza every visit. They also have both meat and veggie options, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

If you are stumped and looking for somewhere new to eat, I highly recommend Puccini’s. It has been a favorite of mine ever since my parents took me there! The great family atmosphere, delicious food, and amazing customer service make it the perfect destination for your next meal.
